The research will be conducted on the premise that eating disorders are a widespread health issue in the American society and it will focus on the following research questions: Eating disorders are a widespread problem in the US and in order to contain this menace authorities should attempt to create awareness among the citizens about its causes and effects as well as preventive measures. The researcher proposes to conduct the research mainly using secondary sources, in terms of available literature on the topic. The research will be conducted within the campus, using library resources, internet etc. In addition, wherever feasible, the researcher will also attempt to gain some primary data from within the community sources by interviewing a sample population of a few patients ailing with the problem. Besides, the researcher will also explore the possibility of obtaining information from healthcare professionals including dieticians.
